Australia Study Abroad: Day 1
Our first full day in Perth Australia was very eventful.
We arrived at Leeming Senior High School at 9:30 am and were greeted by our local guide and Japanese teacher.
She gave us a quick tour of the magnificent school grounds. Schools in Australia have much more space to work with compared to schools in Japan.
It was startling to see how spread out the different buildings are. There are no stairs; all the classrooms are in single story buildings surrounded by lush gardens and wildlife.
It feels like a school built in the middle of nature. The students bought some sandwiches for lunch and then met their host students.
They were able to sit in on a few classes before our final class where Kokusai students gave short presentations about a variety of things which are unique to Kokusai or Japan. Believe it or not, the school day finishes at 3:00pm, and the school was empty by 4:00. That means lots of time for students to get to know their host families before heading back to school tomorrow morning.
